The chart illustrates the percentage of people using public transport in four European countries between 2000 and 2020.

Overall, public transport usage increased in all countries during the period shown, with Germany experiencing the most significant growth.

In Germany, the percentage of people using public transport rose steadily from 40% in 2000 to approximately 70% in 2020. France also recorded a noticeable increase, climbing from 35% to around 55% over the same period.

Similarly, Italy saw gradual growth, with figures rising from 30% to nearly 50%. By contrast, Spain experienced slower growth than the other countries, increasing from roughly 25% to just over 40%.

Although all four countries showed upward trends, Germany consistently remained the country with the highest percentage of public transport users throughout the period.
