Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 24, 2026

At LingoMe, we care about your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use LingoMe websites, mobile applications, and related services (“Service”). The Service currently includes a mobile application for vocabulary learning and a website for IELTS preparation, and may become a more unified English-learning product over time.

By using the Service, you agree to LingoMe collecting, using, and sharing your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. Please note that LingoMe is constantly testing and improving our product features. Any features discussed in this Privacy Policy may not be available to all users or in all jurisdictions.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide and improve LingoMe. The exact scope may evolve as new features are introduced, but it always falls within the categories described below.

a. Information you provide
  • Name or nickname (may be any name the user enters)
  • Email address
  • Information provided during onboarding (language level, goals, topics of interest, etc.)
b. Usage and learning data
  • Token usage (amount of learning content processed per user)
  • Words studied, vocabulary progress by day, vocabulary checks, and activity streaks
  • IELTS writing tasks, essays, AI feedback, estimated band scores, and corrections
  • IELTS speaking recordings, transcripts, generated questions, speech-to-text results, duration, word timing, speaking-rate and pause metrics, AI feedback, and estimated band scores
  • IELTS reading and listening answers, attempt history, review items, elapsed time, raw scores, and estimated band scores
  • General interaction metrics with lessons, practice tools, and other features
  • Information you submit to the IELTS AI helper, such as writing drafts, selected text, speaking notes and answers, transcripts, selected reading or listening answers, your reasoning, and custom messages
  • IELTS target scores used for progress tracking and personalization, and completed study days, streaks, and ranking information used for leaderboards
c. Technical information
  • Device type, operating system, app version
  • IP address, time zone, and language preferences
  • Crash and performance data
  • Cookie and analytics data from the website, including Google Analytics and Meta Pixel data such as page URLs, browser and device information, IP addresses, cookies, and other identifiers made available to those providers
  • Cloudflare CAPTCHA and Turnstile verification data, such as challenge tokens, device/browser signals, request metadata, IP address, and verification outcomes used to prevent abuse
d. Information stored locally on your device

The website may use browser storage for your cookie preference, writing drafts, reading answers, and timer or progress state. This information remains until it is submitted, replaced, or removed. It may remain after sign-out, so clear browser storage on shared devices.

e. Information from third-party providers
  • Subscription and purchase metadata, including your current plan or entitlement status, billing platform, renewal or expiration status, and payment-management identifiers provided by RevenueCat, Paddle, Apple App Store, or Google Play.
  • LingoMe may process and share certain personal information with trusted third-party service providers for the purpose of operating, improving, and securing the Service. To support these functions, we work with a variety of third-party vendors, such as OpenAI, Baseten, Together AI, Novita AI, RevenueCat, Paddle, SendGrid, Google Analytics, Meta (Facebook), and Cloudflare. These partners assist with payment processing and subscription validation, generation of educational content, AI coaching, and learning feedback, speech-to-text transcription and analysis of user voice input, transactional and support communications, analytics, secure content delivery, and protection. Cloudflare helps us provide secure content delivery, CAPTCHA and Turnstile verification, and abuse prevention. Hosting and data storage are located in Germany.
  • Meta Pixel helps us measure website visits and understand the effectiveness of our outreach. Meta may associate website activity with cookies or identifiers it controls and processes that information under its own privacy terms.

Speaking recordings are sent to our transcription provider and are not stored by LingoMe after processing. Transcripts, speaking metrics, and feedback may be saved in your history.

2. How We Use Information

We use your data to:

  • Operate and improve the Service’s functionality
  • Personalize vocabulary lessons, IELTS preparation, and progress tracking
  • Generate AI-powered coaching, transcription, feedback, and corrections
  • Track progress and create pseudonymous activity and IELTS leaderboards
  • Save unfinished practice work in your browser so you can continue it later
  • Manage subscriptions and purchases
  • Communicate important updates or account information
  • Measure website performance and understand how users interact with the Service
  • Ensure security, verify CAPTCHA challenges, detect abuse, and comply with legal obligations

We may also use aggregated or anonymized statistics to analyze usage patterns and improve our educational content. Such data cannot identify individual users.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent personal information.

We may share limited data with trusted service providers listed above, solely to operate our Services under confidentiality and data-processing agreements.

Eligible non-guest accounts are included automatically in pseudonymous leaderboards. Authenticated users may see ranks, completed study days or streaks, overall estimated band scores, and skill scores under a generated learner label, but not your name or email address.

We may disclose information:

  • To comply with applicable laws or lawful requests
  • To protect user safety or prevent fraud
  • In connection with a business transfer (e.g., reorganization or merger), where equivalent protections will apply

4. Data Storage and Transfers

User data is primarily stored on servers located in Germany (Digital Ocean).

Third-party processors may transfer or process information in other jurisdictions under appropriate safeguards.

5. Data Retention

We retain user data only as long as necessary to provide our Services and for legitimate business purposes (e.g., legal or accounting obligations).

You can request deletion through available account settings. If your account has active paid access, in-app deletion may be unavailable until you cancel future renewal and the active subscription entitlement expires. Cancelling a subscription does not necessarily end paid access immediately. You may contact support@lingome.app for help with a deletion request or to exercise privacy rights that apply in your jurisdiction.

When you delete your account, your account and core learning records are removed. We may retain limited records where needed for security, payment, accounting, or legal obligations. Backups may retain deleted data for up to 7 days for disaster recovery.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., EU GDPR, UK DPA, CCPA), you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Request data portability
  • Object to certain processing activities

To exercise these rights, contact support@lingome.app.

7. Security

We apply technical and organizational measures (encryption, access control, monitoring) to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, or loss.

Despite these safeguards, no online system can be fully secure.

8. Children’s Privacy

LingoMe is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable).

We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us for prompt removal.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect new features or legal requirements.

The latest version will always be available in the app, where applicable, and at https://lingome.app/privacy.

Material changes will be announced within the app or via email.

(Minor updates that clarify or expand existing categories of data—such as new learning metrics—will not automatically require renewed consent, provided the overall purpose remains the same.)
